Majority of Nigerian awards suffer from:
  • Limited industry acceptance (except by award winners)
  • Accusations of biases inspired by pecuniary gains & post-event controversies
  • Low credibility, transparency & fairplay
  • Poor focus & positioning
Based on the above, The Nigerian Telecom Award has been planned as much as possible to achieve a national recognition to involve all the players (especially all the Presidents and CEOs f the big telecom companies around the world) in the Telecom industry a worldwide event. It is
projected to be widely credible, acceptable, and transparent award to move away from the myopic, shallow achievement of little pageants. The Award (first of its kind) has the interest and involvement of the Federal Government of Nigeria through the Honourable Minister of Communications to make it an internationally standardize award

  OBJECTIVES

  • To commend the interest and effort of those foreign firms who had faith and belief in Nigeria to the extent of committing such heavy investment.
  • To proof to the world, the safety and progress inherent and achievable from investing in an environment like Nigeria.
  • To encourage and attract more investment into Nigeria.
  • To make Nigeria the focus of the world in the most positive light ever imagined.
  • To seek and buy a better image for Nigeria. Never in the history of Nigeria has any award planned to attract so much eminent international figures with a view to adding value to corporate Nigeria.
  • To be the most authoritative indices for measuring consumer & industry acceptance of market leaders within the telecom industry
  • To be the most authentic channel for rewarding corporate excellence in Nigeria
  • To attract international figures with heavy economic interest and benefit to Nigeria more than any in its category.

BENEFITS

The industry will benefit as the award targets deserving companies, individual and communities who have done so well since the inception and the creation of the ministry of telecommunications. The nation will benefit as the telecom industry stand a better chance of image laundering than any other sector in Nigeria, and the economic will improve when prominent personalities visit Nigeria through this kind of Award that will expose and encourage them to invest as they come in, seeing their counterparts declaring their profits therefore making them to see more reason why they should invest in Nigeria. Also, telecom players (existing) will also benefit in this award, because people will get to know them better than before and it will help them (players) improve their services and market strategies when necessary.
